hi folks,

i gave up on last weekend's show cuz we were having technical difficulties. i decided to save all the awesome material i had planned and try again for 4.3.10.

i'm still on the topic of prison. gonna play a couple clips from folks talking about prison and the prison industrial complex- mumia abu jamal and angela davis. i'll read some from this awesome howard zinn essay on economic/class divisions in the united states, cuz prison and economic class are intimately intertwined. and more... readings, thoughts, rants, etc.

what a shame that the fm was down during my last show. please universe, please never let it happen like that again. the good people of tucson deserve better.

i am archiving the show at this very instant, so look for it, download it, listen, learn, tolerate my babbling drone. also- i realized after i played it that the krs 1 song at the very end of the show was offensive on a variety of levels, even if it was cool that he talked about freeing mumia. but i played it anyway, cuz like i said, it was after the fact.

tonight i'll be talking about the role of immigrants in the last 100 years or so, paying particular attention to mexican immigration. lotsa focus on news reports about oppressive anti-immigration policies in the last couple years. last weekend i attended the anti-immigration march in phoenix and witnessed children pepper sprayed. i'll be talking about that tonight as well. if you can't catch it tonight, look for the archived show under "program archives."
