In celebration of Jon Ginoli from Pansy Division presenting his documentary and playing a solo set at The Loft this Saturday, I played all queer and queer-positive bands.

In the archive, I removed the first occurrence of Sleater-Kinnney's "Oh!" due to the wild levels, but you can enjoy this song toward the end of the show. I also deleted the part toward the beginning where I didn't know the mic was off; yay for revisionist history!

I started by playing records from shows I saw over the summer: Bunnygrunt! Cars Can Be Blue! Sex Robots! (All of those at one show in St. Louis, along with Lovely Eggs!) Songs for Moms! Parts & Labor! Mission of Burma!

After that, I went backward to document all of the fun shows I went to from late 2007 into early 2008. Damn, Antelope at Solar Culture was so good!

It’s a very Meow-y Halloween! I played my Halloween show two days after the holiday, but in Tucson it’s more like Halloweek, culminating in the All Souls Procession on November 8. It’s still a good time to be scared!

The songs that make me think of Halloween aren’t always the typical ones. I find things to be freaked by in tunes by Bunnygrunt, Vaselines, and Beat Happening! Yes, it’s a fun Halloween, a sweet Halloween, a danceable treat for your ears to eat.
